Summer is a State of Mind

Hey fashion people, I have a bone to pick with you. Stop trying to make me rush into FALL, when we have a few more weeks of perfectly good SUMMER. And you know what? I didn’t get enough beach time. So I’ll just wear summer. On. My. Shirt. AnaB-July-54 AnaB-July-63 AnaB-July-65 AnaB-July-66AnaB-July-68

Summer is a state of mind. Summer is relaxation, cold drinks, family time, get-togethers, relishing the great outdoors, bike rides, bug bites and SPF. I plan to take it all well into FALL, maybe less bug bites. So keep your booties and your chunky knit sweaters. I’ll be wearing those soon enough. But not quite yet.

Plaid Thingamajig and Thoughts on Gift Buying

058-Ana -websize

You know, it was pretty fun walking around Old Town Alexandria with this over-sized plaid thingamajig. I mean, what do you even call it? I thought it was a scarf when I picked it up at H&M, and then it kept going and going. In all honesty, it’s a blanket. And I got to walk around Old Town with a warm fuzzy blanket thrown on top of me…and nobody flinched. A cup of joe and I was set!

How’s your Christmas shopping going? I’m half way done, but honestly, it’s kind of hard to shop for others. I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to get THE MOST AMAZING, SPECIAL, THOUGHTFUL thing you could ever find that’s JUST RIGHT and PREFERABLY engraved and/or SPECIALLY made (by hand!) for that someone. But then I’m like, nah! It really is the thought that counts, right? We all truly got what we NEED and then some. So yes, it’s the thought that matters. Don’t let gift buying stress you out. The gift for that special someone doesn’t need to be life changing. Just thoughtful. And if he/she likes walking around in blankets….well then.

Bridal Beauty Inspiration &

Every week I get to spend time creating makeup and hair looks for a lady’s most important event, her wedding day! So when asked me to create beauty looks to complement these beautiful wedding dresses, I jumped on board. is the perfect online destination for all things bridal, from finding your bridal style to planning the tiniest details of your big day, it’s all there! Now, if only I could plan a second wedding :).

Look 1: Classic Beauty

Stlye me 3

A Classic Beauty look can complement any hairstyle or dress, but would look especially beautiful with a strapless, form fitting gown. The goal is to look like a polished version of yourself.  For the eyes, I used a light beige shadow on the lid and a medium brown in the crease. I lined the eyes with a black gel liner and used individual lashes to bring out the eyes. I used a muted pink on the cheeks and a mauve lipstick to complete the look.

Makeup Details: Foundation: MAC Face and Body, Cheeks: MAC Blush in Dame, Eyes: Lorac Pro To Go Eye/Cheek Palette, Lips: Mirabella Color Vinyl Lipstick in Rosy Rouge

 Look 2: Bold Beauty

Style me 1 3

A bold lip and winged eyeliner are a great option if you’re looking for a bit more flair to match a stand out dress, like the ombre feathered frock above. I let the makeup and dress do all the talking, and tied my hair back in a soft updo. I also added some white eyeliner to the inner waterline to make my eyes look bigger.

Makeup Details: White Eyeliner: MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl, Cheeks: Lorac Pink from Pro to Go Eye/Cheek Palette Lips: Mirabella Blush Velvet Lip Pencil

Look 3. Glamorous Beauty

Style me 2 (1)

For the last look, I was smitten by the high neck and lace detail of this gorgeous dress. To complement the glamour of the dress, I did a smokey eye in browns and golds with long lashes. I also added highlight and contour for more dimension since my hair is pulled back, and I finished the look with a fleshy lip color.

Makeup Details: Highlight: MAC Prep & Prime in Radiant Rose, Eyes and Contour: Lorac Pro to Go Eye/Cheek Palette Lips: Rimmel Airy Fairy

Which look do you prefer? Classic, bold or glamorous? I can’t decide between Classic or Glam myself! Now head on over to for more bridal beauty goodness!

School Girl

Not sure why I decided to dress up like a school girl, but I was getting bored of the same old cold weather outfits. These pics were taken a few weeks ago in colder weather and now it’s super nice outside! Yay! I’ve gotten tons of compliments on my brown booties from Forever 21. They look more expensive than they are, and I am wearing them over and over! That’s the thing I love about Forever 21, you can get new booties for a small financial investment. Lighter jackets are also in rotation, and I got this H&M trench the one time I went thrifting at Unique in Falls Church, VA.

Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather and I hope it’s here to stay! <3

Crop Top Worn Two Ways

I’m sure there is a fashion rule out there that says you’re not supposed to wear cropped tops and mini skirts after age 30…but I’ve never really been good at following rules! Seriously though, it’s good to do something different every now and then. Now I don’t think the crop top works all the time. But if you pair it with a high-waisted skirt, or shorts like I did here, or high-waisted pants, it’s a bit more forgiving in the midsection and not so showy. Flirty, but not over the top.

For a more relaxed look, I paired my top with a hooded vest and my favorite boots, which my friend Pam calls my wrestling shoes :).

These Brown Eyes Will Break Your Heart

breakyourheart Not really though. That’s just what my shirt says. I love the idea of mixing casual and dressy. Like this casual screen tee that I paired with an a-line skirt, glitzy necklace and cage heels.  It was a fun look for our recent girls night out to Bull Run Winery for some delicious wine tasting.

IMG_8327 back.jpgIMG_8332 IMG_8355 IMG_8372 IMG_8385 IMG_8400 IMG_8413 IMG_8426 IMG_8430 IMG_8435I’d never been wine tasting before, but now I can’t wait to go back. Bull Run Winery in Centreville is so close, and so beautiful. I’m thinking this would be a perfect date night with the hubs. Have you ever been to a winery before?
