Summer Day to Night Look and Amazing Things

A couple amazing things have happened to me lately. No. 1.  Nordstrom Rack moved into my neighborhood! I mean, I could just stop here. Cause yep, that’s pretty amazing. Anyone else a huge Nordies Rack fan?!  No. 2. I have fallen in love with my friend Katya’s jewelry boutique “She’s Unique” in Old Town Alexandria! “She’s Unique” has the best dainty jewelry around, including tons of midi rings which makes my vainy hands so much more feminine (I hope!) . I also scored a cute metallic leather clutch there, and I’m about to wear it EVERYWHERE! Please someone, invite me out so I can wear my new clutch. Chuck “E” Cheese doesn’t count.

Not sure if my outfits are boring for the summer, or just realistic, but a pair of jeans and a tank are my current go to. Ofcourse, you can switch out the jeans for some shorts. My legs are still hiding from a recent bout of excema (insert TMI here). But otherwise, it’s so easy to dress this everyday look with a white blazer and some rockin’ heels.

Hope you’re enjoying your summer! I am panicking at the moment trying to think of how to keep 3 boys from killing each other or me while school’s out, but that’s another blog post.

What’s black and red and animal-over?

Did you like my blog post title? I came up with it all by myself! Ladies, sometimes you just need a pair of ridiculously tall, ridiculously loud shoes. These are mine. I bought them off Nastygal and they always make me wanna wear some black and red.

Also, I’m not over liquid leggings and I’ve had these for years!  Liquid leggings can be a bit unforgiving, but you can always pair them with an over-sized sweater, cardigan or long button up shirt for some coverage! I’m glad to say that none of these items were new purchases, haha! Just a closet shuffle and bam! A new outfit post :).

Every Day Spring Look

Hi Ladies!

I did this simple spring look on myself the other day. It was quite easy, so I thought I’d share how to achieve it!

1. FACE: I started with my usual moisturizer and primer. I then spread an even layer of foundation using a foundation brush. I am currently loving Makeup Forever HD foundation. For Concealer, I am using Tarte Creaseless Concealer. It’s very creamy, has great coverage and stays put!

2. BROWS: I made my brows a focal point by outlining them slightly thicker than usual (this works for me since I have sparse brows). I used an angled brush and Elf Eye Brow Kit in Medium by using the waxy portion of the kit to create a thicker shape, and the powder portion to fill in any empty or sparse areas. And did I mention the kit is only $3.00?!

3. EYES: I place concealer on the lids as a base. I then used my Urban Decay Naked Palette and placed Toasted (champagne shimmer) shadow all over the lid and buffed out the edges with a fluffy brush. I also like to use Half Baked (gold shimmer shadow) for the same look in a golden hue.

4. EYELINER: I used MAC Feline Pencil to tightline my eyes (meaning to line the upper and lower inner rim of the eyes). Feline is a beautiful smooth black kohl pencil. I love it!

5. LASHES: Since this eye look is simple, I used my favorite pair of natural lashes, Ardell 110, to give my eyes a boost. A great mascara such as Younique would do the trick as well!

6. BLUSH/BRONZER: For blush, I used MAC Style which is a peachy frost color, perfect for a spring look! For Bronzer, I would recommend Hoola by Benefit! It’s an oldy but a goody! :)

7. LIPS: I mixed MAC Morange (Orange) lipstick and MAC Creme Cup (Pink) to get this melon sorbet color! Gosh, I must be hungry, lol! When you want to try something new, don’t be afraid to mix colors you already own!

And there you have it! Hope you liked this simple spring look :).

If It Makes You Happy!

My dear husband recently bought me the book “Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul” and reading it really brings me back to my childhood. I loved these books as a teenager. They inspired me to appreciate the little things in life, but also to dream bigger and farther than my little world at the time. I always wanted to move away somewhere and experience a different life. I did get that chance when I moved to California in 2002 as a newlywed. AnaB-Jan-31 AnaB-Jan-35 AnaB-Jan-36 AnaB-Jan-28 AnaB-Jan-44 AnaB-Jan-40 AnaB-Jan-33

It’s funny that the adventure I was looking for didn’t end up being in California. It’s happening right here in good old Virginia. And in my 30s. Not my 20s. Ha! But life is kinda funny that way. I’m always in awe of how things end up turning out. I do think that part of getting to where you need to go happens when you’re in tune with yourself. When you say no to the things that stifle you or make you unhappy. And say yes to the things to excite and inspire you! Even if people don’t agree or even if it doesn’t make you money at first. Believe in yourself, believe in your purpose, work really hard for what you want and find a way!

Minimal Eyes + Red Lips

Hope you enjoyed the long weekend! I have been living in this faux fur that I got on super sale at the new TopShop in Springfield Town Center. I probably wear it too often, but it’s very warm and easily makes any outfit more interesting.

Also on repeat? Minimal eye makeup with a pop of color on the lips! I would really love to wear bold lips more often, but it’s a tricky thing with having three boys. They always find a way to smear my makeup :/. Between you and me, it’s taken me a long time to get good at applying a bold lip. Practice makes perfect though, so whenever I’ve wanted to learn a new makeup trick, I’ll repeat it very often (though it looks crazy!) for a few weeks until a get it right.

Have a blessed week!

Love, Ana B

Wear it Again

Ana Full Shot

Hey there! Hope you had a great weekend! Did you do anything fun?! We took Diego and our 3-year old Levi to see Big Hero 6. It was Levi’s first time at the movies and he did so great! :) We tried a new theater, the Courthouse AMC in Arlington, and they had plush reclining seats! I don’t think we’ll go anywhere else now.

Here’s a few pics that street photographer Britt Elyse Nelson took of me for her spread in People En Espanol. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the cut to the print magazine, but I love the pics anyways. These green khaki pants are heavy on rotation lately, I wore them with this outfit. If I love something I wear it over and over and over. So if you see me out somewhere, don’t hate if I’m wearing these again. :)

Bridal Beauty Inspiration &

Every week I get to spend time creating makeup and hair looks for a lady’s most important event, her wedding day! So when asked me to create beauty looks to complement these beautiful wedding dresses, I jumped on board. is the perfect online destination for all things bridal, from finding your bridal style to planning the tiniest details of your big day, it’s all there! Now, if only I could plan a second wedding :).

Look 1: Classic Beauty

Stlye me 3

A Classic Beauty look can complement any hairstyle or dress, but would look especially beautiful with a strapless, form fitting gown. The goal is to look like a polished version of yourself.  For the eyes, I used a light beige shadow on the lid and a medium brown in the crease. I lined the eyes with a black gel liner and used individual lashes to bring out the eyes. I used a muted pink on the cheeks and a mauve lipstick to complete the look.

Makeup Details: Foundation: MAC Face and Body, Cheeks: MAC Blush in Dame, Eyes: Lorac Pro To Go Eye/Cheek Palette, Lips: Mirabella Color Vinyl Lipstick in Rosy Rouge

 Look 2: Bold Beauty

Style me 1 3

A bold lip and winged eyeliner are a great option if you’re looking for a bit more flair to match a stand out dress, like the ombre feathered frock above. I let the makeup and dress do all the talking, and tied my hair back in a soft updo. I also added some white eyeliner to the inner waterline to make my eyes look bigger.

Makeup Details: White Eyeliner: MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl, Cheeks: Lorac Pink from Pro to Go Eye/Cheek Palette Lips: Mirabella Blush Velvet Lip Pencil

Look 3. Glamorous Beauty

Style me 2 (1)

For the last look, I was smitten by the high neck and lace detail of this gorgeous dress. To complement the glamour of the dress, I did a smokey eye in browns and golds with long lashes. I also added highlight and contour for more dimension since my hair is pulled back, and I finished the look with a fleshy lip color.

Makeup Details: Highlight: MAC Prep & Prime in Radiant Rose, Eyes and Contour: Lorac Pro to Go Eye/Cheek Palette Lips: Rimmel Airy Fairy

Which look do you prefer? Classic, bold or glamorous? I can’t decide between Classic or Glam myself! Now head on over to for more bridal beauty goodness!

Holding on to Summer

You see this “cool mom?” ^^^  I don’t really know her. She lives only in my blog. Lol. But seriously. It was a rough weekend with EVERYONE in my family of five being sick. I will spare you all the gory details, but there was none of this cool blogger situation going on! Susannah and I took these a few weeks ago (prior to getting my fall ombre). I didn’t get to enjoy the beautiful warm weather we had this weekend, but I hope it’s here to stay a LOT longer!Ana B web-15 Ana B web-16 Ana B web-17 Ana B web-18 Ana B web-19Ana B web-21 Ana B web-22

I bought these pants at Garage a while ago and I don’t think they’re available anymore. But if you see them there or similar ones anywhere. Buy them. Because they feel like pajamas, and they hide spills or stains from sticky toddlers, and they have a stretchy waistband, AND they make you look cute. Best. Pants. Ever. I think they may be considered trousers, but I can’t be sure.

Keep dreamin’

AnaB June28-3

Hi friends! Maybe you’ve noticed a lack of posting. I am in the process of moving and well, the whole process is kicking my butt! For awhile now, my husband and I have really been working towards owning a new place. My friends have been hearing me talk about this forever…sorry girls! After some setbacks, we finally bought a place and had to do some remodeling since it wasn’t in the best condition. But now it’s almost done and we are moving in (woohoo!). Buying, remodeling, and moving is a very stressful time for sure. In fact, I heard somewhere that no one should do a remodel within the first several years of marriage in order to keep the peace, lol! But I am so very thankful especially in light of everything that’s going on in the world today. I have to say that we are more than blessed to live in a country where we can freely and safely pursue our dreams!
